Heuer Autavia 2446 H Jochen Rindt

It took me a while to find my Jochen Rindt but finally I found this exceptional piece. The Heuer Autavia 2446 H Jochen Rindt, made in 1968, is really an elegant and classy watch and totally different from the seventy Autavia's. Crown and pushers are on the right side of the watch and the lugs are longer and much more refined than on the later Autavia's. This watch is the so called third generation model: 3rd execution dial, 3rd execution hands and with the screw back case. It has the superb and my favorite "minute" bezel. The watch is also known as the "Jochen Rindt". Jochen Rind, the famous racing driver who died in 1970 during training for the Italian Grand Prix, wore the same model with minute bezel. In the picture you see him in hospital wearing my watch, reading a newspaper story about all the famous F1 drivers losing their lives in fatal car crashes, due to lack of safety in that period of racing. So you see Jochen reading about his near future in the newspaper. Strong image!
