Rolex Submariner 5513

I am a big fan of the vintage Rolex Submariner models. I have posted  a great couple a while ago: a Rolex Submariner 1680 Mark2 from 1979 and a Rolex Red Submariner Mark4 form 1970.

At this moment it seems like the non-date Rolex Submariner 5513 is an even better investment than the 1680 reference. Real Rolex purists seem to prefer the 5513 because of the cleaner look of the dial without date and cyclops. I have always loved the chimney plexi and date magnifier of the 1680 since it makes the watch so recognizable. Some will even say that the cyclops is an essential part of the Rolex Submariner model.

That may be true but the more I am collecting watches the more I can understand why the 5513 reference does so well. It's just such a beautiful watch with a very pure look and perfectly balanced. Maybe it's just the most beautiful watch ever produced ( together with the original JLC Memorex Deepsea ref. E857 ).

Here a great 5513 couple: 5513 pre-Comex and 5513 gilt, pre-Comex was once mine.
